Perth Sealer Stripping

Some tiles come sealed with a basic sealer at the factory, others might have to be sealed prior and after the installation. Depending on the area, location, traffic, maintenance and environment, previously sealed surfaces will eventually need to be sealed again.

Before the application of a new sealer, all old sealers must be removed completely, the surfaced dried then sealed with a new sealer. 

Stripping existing sealers off tiles is not a DIY job. It must be done properly, and in order for it to be done properly, it must be undertaken by an experienced operator and requires special equipment and chemicals. Stripping can be a tricky task and if not done properly, permanent damage to the tiles can occur. Once all the old sealer has been removed off the tiles, tiles must be dried and then sealed with appropriate number of coats of sealer. Solvent based sealers are much more difficult and time consuming to strip. The stripping of solvent sealers also gives off harmful fumes so adequate ventilation during the stripping process is vital. Some previously solvent sealed tiles might not be strippable, in which case a heavy duty clean and etch is required and a seal using the same or stronger sealer is recommended.
